I am familiar with clamsdirect.net and like how he does that site.

I am looking for other suppliers of clams where you can view what you want to order before you decide which specific clam to buy.

Clams are so individual and unique, but I am very picky about their looks in terms on which ones I want to purchase.

I would have to say Jim Norris. His website is www.itanku.com and call or email him. Tell him exactly what you are looking for and he will email you pictures of all the ones he has in that size and color range. I was like you and didn't want someone else picking my clam. I was very happy with what I got.

Service is awesome, packing was awesome and he is one hell of a nice guy. It's not really a retail site it's Jim and his clams. I know he just got a new batch on the 18th. Pricing is about as fair as you can get too.

I wish I had a camera so I could show you the one I got!!

Harbor Aquatics in Indiana has a very good selection. They have about 50-100 clams to choose from. Last time time I went there in Sep '01 I bought 3 Ultra Color maximas 1.5'-2'(green/blue striped, blue, purple) and 1 gold (Green, black, blue and gold color)for $90.

And all of my clams are still doing good and growing all are about 3' now so grew about 2 more layers of shell. I do not really feed them anything now. I did at first for the first few weeks and than I stopped and they are still growing and looking good. I also have Deresa clam that was about 4' that is now about 5-6' can going good.

Funny you should ask. I to can't see spending $100 or more on a clam without seeing it first. I subscribed to the clam update list at www.ffexpress.com and received an email each time they updated their "Spectacular Clams" page. After a few weeks I finally saw the clam I wanted. A 6" purple and black ultra maxima. It was $129 (not cheap) but... I received it today and it is simply beautiful!! It is exactly the one I saw on their web site.

clam number pp2601

This is the only way I 'll buy a clam online.
