Sorry to hear man.... BUT

Where you been for three days? How do you fidh get fed?

It's Chinese New Year, I have to cover my associates' absence.

Safety measures already planned but....
1)My housemate is supposed to feed the tanks(he usually over feed) but for his own safety he decided to go somewhere warm.
2)I have lots of "key-toe" in the tanks for them to eat-which obviously is consumed in these three days.:eat:
3)I submerged couple DD coffee cups and mini fish carrier(those that people use to carry turtles) with macro algae at the back of most of my tanks as refuges. The pods in there do come out once a while and got eaten as well:eat:

Final update befoe going to bed:

One giant hermit(3-4" shell) died in the invert tank
A flower pot looks bad
Cabbage leather has not opened whole day
Most fish seems Ok
One tang may have gotten some ich in the morning but looks Ok now. Will have to monitor more.
General health of the corals seems to have dropped a little.
Not sure about the snails
All shrimps are happy

Thanks for everyone's concern.

Hey Wing, good luck with your plight. Large water changes (after you've reached normal temps) are in order. I agree with Henry. There are things that can continue to deteriorate after the water is back up to 78.

More Update:

-The flower pot died.
-A giant hermit died in another tank (reported earlier)
-No fish lost in all the tanks but most fish seem getting more aggressive towards each other
-No ich sightings besides probably at the very day when I come back. Still not sure if I really have seen ich that morning.
-Cyano bloom and some green algae bloom(water chemistry must have changed significantly-will post the pars later)
-frogspawn not looking good
-some sps covered by cyano
-cabbage leather starts to swell up but not opened-i guess will be OK
-the budda's palm which has started to make droppings before the power out, made couple of them already-probably speeded up by the adverse temperature event.
-other corals that are healthy when I got them are all looking good
-other corals that are about to die when I got them seem stressed some what.
-skimmer did not go crazy-same as usual.
-the waving hands made a lot of droppings and do not swell up as big as before(Just worried that when they all decided to make a come back, I may have too many to give away:eek: )

Hey wingo, with a three day power outage, temps in the low 50's, I honestly think your system is doing remarkably well. Keep up the good work bringing it back. I think you're on the right road.

Wingo, given that your fish look stressed now, and you're going to need some time to get the tank water stable, is there any way to move them to a QT? It would be a way to reduce their stress over the next few days, and you can drop the salinity preemptively for any ich outbreak (you could even dose them with copper for a while if you wanted to). That way you could concentrate on the main tank and try to save as much coral stock as you have, without worrying about the fish flipping out every time you change 30% of the water volume.

Hope things get better.

Thanks for the suggestions. All fish look good now but definately need to work on stablizing the water parameters these couple weeks. At least, Waterplant is satifisfied with how Big Blue looks which he gave me.

Nitrate is the only parameter that's WAY OUT OF WHACK. The first time ever I see it so high including during cycling to all my tanks! I have correct this fast or else my inverts are going to take some hit soon.

My macro algae are almost completely gone. Can some one give A WHOLE LOT to jump start the eco system again sooner than having to wait for them to grow back?

Wingo, it's good to hear things are settling down. Congrats on getting so much to survive after that fiasco. If your nitrates are really that high, why not throw in a resin like purigen to help (at least a little bit) along with big w/c's. It's not going to interfere with any cycling, but can help bridge you over until the die off is all decomposed and life gets back to normal. For that matter, if your nitrates are that high, there's got to be excess ammonia in there, even if your test kit says 0. The common ammonia test kits lose sensitivity below 0.25, so unless it's a low range quality kit, there is ammonia present that you're not measuring. There's still too much decay to believe there's not some in excess of your local nitrifying capacity for the remaining dead stuff, so I would consider running some SW zeolite (it will not interfere with any bacterial growth rate, there's still plenty around to feed on), as well as a phosphate binder for the phosphate release as well.

Glad things are looking up,
Henry

Thanks for the advice again.

Things are getting back on track step by step.
The leather opened, the mushroom starting to become puffy again. In general most softies are close to normal now.
The frogspawn look worse than before
All fish back to normal and including their ADNORMAL LOVE AFFAIR of three fish sleeping in one cave.
Nitrate is around 40 for most of the tanks and the one that I dosed some sugar two days ago drops to 20. I did not continue the dosage so not sure if that's the real reason for its faster drop of nitrate levels.
SPS looks bad
One of the refuge, that have most of the macro algae melted, has regain some strength
cyano still everywhere, and green film of algae is thinning out
Got some macro from Jhale and nemo (THANKS) today-hope it will further lower the nitrate level fast.

Wow, your fish are now a threesome in a cave? Maybe that's how they themselves warm during the days without heat:Yikes: :wineglass  .

Sorry about the frogspawn. I lost a bubble from a power failure. It took (still taking, as I'm still having some algae issues) 2 months of battling to clean things up. My nitrates are still running 10, although on a good day, if I stare into the MH for a bit, they do appear to come down to 5 when I match colors. Hopefully your sps will start to improve. I think its probably been long enough by now to see if there's any chance for recovery, which apparently there is (they're still not dead).

The macro is a great idea, and the sugar may have helped, but clearly didn't make things worse. I would have tried vodka so at least the fish can have a good time as well, but it sounds like your threesome are doing fine on their own.

I glad things are back on track. Events like this are enough to make you start throwing things out the window, although real satisfaction from that is best when you live on the 5th floor or higher:sgrin: .

Good luck, and things are moving in the right direction.

Wingo, you could have taken a bunch of my cheato on Sunday when you were here. You are still welcome to it if you want. By the way how are the anemone & the damsel doing? Especially interested in the anemone that my puffer attacked.

Thanks for the offer. I will hold you up to it when I see you HAHAHAHA

The anemone are doing good, they heal very quickly and they sit exactly where I put them and never move a bit-I love that.

The damsel is in "The Rock" tank where all refuge of other members are rehabitated therefore your damsel has found no one weaker than him.:tongue1:

I love it.:biglaugh: So the bully has found it's match. Glad to hear the anemone are doing well. I hated to let them go, but with the carpet anemone getting so big someone had to go.
And guess what, the carpet planted itself in the rock that I insisted it be placed where I could see it. I can't see any off it now.:irked: And it too has decided that it likes it there and it doesn't appear that it will move any time soon.
When ever you want the cheato just let me know.
