As the title says ... I'm currently redoing my 90 gallon fowlr. I'm looking to pick up about 80 lbs of rock with decent coloring. After searching online for a while and coming up with not much I figure it's easier to just buy local. Probably looking for something a little better than plain Fiji like totoka or even indo rocks but not sure where to go. Thanks in advance

If it were me i'd keep searching the classifieds here for a tank break down. Help a fellow reefer looking to cash out, and save yourself a bunch in the process. Pukani rock from brs is some nice stuff. Very porous and easy to work with.
As far as lfs...if i remember correctly aquarium village is the only place where the rock is far enough away from display tanks to be trusted without qt, imo. Their prices are excellent, and they'r usually willing to make deals, especially when paying cash.

Most LFS that sell "live rock" have rock with no color at all. They have been cycling in big deep tanks packed with rock and little flow in there, let alone light for coralline. They are essentially detritus traps for the system, which as pointed out are exposed to various pests. I don't blame these stores as the price to house and fully cure and cover rock with coralline would be prohibitive. If you are really against starting from dry rock, I second the opinion above of searching for someone with a nice tank breaking down and try to scoop up some nice fully cured rock full of coralline, not detritus and phosphate. Good Luck.
