RO pressure and TDS question

Hi. My new BRS 4 stage RO/DI comes with an in-line pressure gauge. The manual discusses running it above 50psi, but does not say if there's a preferred pressure. Is there a pressure too high? My water is on only 25% and it reads 80psi. Do people just open their faucet all the way or like a specific pressure range?


What are people's TDS of their tap water in NYC. The in-line TDS meter says 10 and the purified water out says 0. Is this accurate or similar to others in NYC?

My tap water in now says between 2-5ppm. Seems low.

It also seems my 75g/d (3g per hour) has already put out 5 gallons in 1 hour. I plan to call BRS tomorrow, but could it produce more if my TDS is that low to start with and therefore there's less waste and easier flow?

Please ignore my crazy updates every 30 minutes. The more I talk it out the better. After researching more online, I certainly understand how a high pressure will increase output and feel my issue is explained by that.

85psi = 5 gallons per hour (125g / day)
50psi = 3 gallons per hour (75g / day)


My remaining question is do you think the TDS meter that came with it is working? It says the tap water is 2-5ppm.

My dad in Queens gets 5-10ppm, so 2-5ppm is certainly a possibility. Me on the other hand gets around 140ppm in Jersey City.

My Inline TDS reads 1ppm for the first hour then goes down to zero. I'm in the Bronx.
