Guys i have Just purchased a Elos 160 from one of the members on MR he gave me a great deal and i thank him for that. My dilema is here that idk if i should paint the back wall black on this beautiful tank or leave it transparent, the tank is going against a wall but its a darker color blueish gray. Please let me know your thoughts on this and what you think. If i should paint it or not.

Guys thanks for the feed back but i need to know why you wouldnt or would painit , i need a reasoning behind yor decision , that would help me alot, i mean i am also leaning alot toward not painting it and just leaving it for the future in case i would want to turn it into a peninsula.

i say paint because it hides away any cables, plumbing etc from the back. also, you wont be able to touch that wall once the tank is there. if you paint or make any changes, you wont have to move the tank lol

I wouldn't paint it in case you ever wanted it as a peninsula or room divider. ALSO, if you feel like you must paint it go with an acrylic or latex cover that will peel off. Theres a member here with a 300gal that uses the peel off type. Hell, you could use window tint of you want. OR never clean it and see if you can grow Coraline algae all over the back wall.

Its just if it was any other tank i would paint it black like i have now on my current 105 gallon DSA but i don't wanna mess up the ELOS tank and regret it later. Because i think this will be my last upgrade. After this if i get a house i will just buy a big tank and start from scratch

I love the look of a black background. Makes corals pop more. Blue makes the tank look larger.

If you are debating in depth, get window tint. That way if you choose to go peninsula later you can just rip it off easily as opposed to painting which will be allot of work taking it off with a razor.
