Hi moved from Long beach long island to South Salem. Looking for some good LFS to check out and talk to about buying another reef tank looking to go at least 180 gallons. Any suggestions?

There are a few of us in the area, I'm in Katonah, and I know a couple of reefers in South Salem and Pound Ridge... but as far as LFS are concerned, the best LFS would be Aquarium Tropical Fish in the Bronx (about 30-40 mins away)... There are 2 LFS in Greenwich, and 1 in Bedford Hills, but their prices are beyond ridiculous.

I googled one in New Canaan and one in Stamford have you been to them? Any good? Ive been to one of the stores you mentioned and have to agree prices are on the moon.

New Canaan was a joke, certainly not a reef store, and I haven't been to the one in Stamford... Before driving all the way to Stratford, I'd recommend Exotic Fish and Corals in Milford Ct

Randy at the store in New Cannan knows his stuff,,but be prepared to pay $600 for an anthias. Take the merit pkwy to the hutch to central aquariums on butler place in the bronx. easy trip, 3 places to stop for coffee along the way and when you get there Nelson will give you a big hug and bigger savings lol
About the same distance from me, but I prefer not to have to travel I95

Small but nice shop just outside Fishkill about 1/2 hr from S. Salem called Absolute Corals, Bobby is a great guy and prices are very reasonable.
+ 1 Bobby is a good man good with prices and always does the right thing.

I would call ahead before going to R&R, there have been some complaints about no one being there during business hours since the re-opening, but I haven't been there myself to confirm that.
IMO, the Petco in Poughkeepsie is a better choice if you're up that way.

Can you guys recommend a company that makes custom tanks? I was in touch with Reef savvy but they have a 6 to 7 month waiting list.
