Hey guys, wondering if you cant give a little insight on this. I bought a bluethroat trigger for my tank last Friday. He was out and about Saturday though my larger hippo tang was being a **** like usual for the first couple days a new fish is introduced. The trigger also ate when fed on Saturday as well. After feeding I needed to shut off the pumps because I was doing coral spot feeding and the fish went into hiding as usual. I haven't seen the trigger since and I cant find him in the tank no matter how hard I look. I have a 93 gallon cube with a very cave friendly rock scape so I'm assuming hes locked in and hiding but its bugging me he still hasn't emerged. Is it normal for a trigger to hid unseen for several days? Could my hippo be keeping him and hiding, im starting to worry a little. He definitely didn't jump or end up in the sump so hes in there somewhere. Thanks guys.

I have a 300 gal with a lot of caves and places to hide and I have had fish go missing for months at a time and then just show up. one thing is for sure he is in the tank and he is either hiding or dead. keep an eye on nitrates the next few days as that will be a little bit of a hint as to which it is

lol. Yup 100% no jumping. I'm hoping hes hiding and not dead. Just did a larger water change so I'm going to be checking for nitrate or ammonia spikes next couple days to make sure. stinks though if he is dead, he was a good looking male bluethroat

This is not uncommon. When I first got my bluethroat he was out and about active, and then went into disappearance. I sesrched everywhere for him and could not find him until I saw an eye peaking out of the rock... He was hiding in the rock. Now he is out and about all the time again and hasent hid since. Just give him some time as he is new to the tank and they are very timid at first.
