Good afternoon everyone. Just picked up some rock from a fellow reefer. Its been in my tank a few days until i noticed what i thought were zoos but to my surprise they were aiptasia. The tentacles i guess you would call them were longer than normal zoas. Immediately i pulled rocks out of my tank and left them outside. I inspected DT and hopefully there are no others pests. Now, should i leave rock outside for a fews days and let rock dieoff? thanks guys. This is my first infestation smh

if the rock has no corals, soak in FW. this will kill the aptasia (and the surface bacteria.) scrub the rock clean to decrease die off and nutrient spike when you put in back in DT.

Just a soak in tap won't be a big problem, especially if you rinse it with RO or salt water after.

I would have gone with just covering them in kalk paste if you only had a few.

I guess if you already left it outside for a while, and rinsed with RO, you should be set. I rinsed some chaeto off with fresh water because it had an aiptasia on it, and the aiptasia melted right away.

If you have kalk powder around for topoff, just use that. I just did it, it worked out surprisingly well.

Just mix some RODI with the kalk (tiny bit of water) and make it into a thick paste (like toothpaste, just powderey-er). Then keep it between two fingers while bringing it into the tank, and place it on top of the aiptasia. It'll kill the aiptasia and probably burn the small section of the rock white, but who cares once the aiptasia is gone.

If doing this, I'd recommend A. turning any flow off while doing it so you don't blow kalk around, and B. if you do drop any kalk on anything in the tank, baste or wave it away in the water so it doesn't burn anything. Good luck!

I will try that thanks

So i ro dipped rock for 15min, brushed off rock clean and after a few days, i noticed they popped up again. So i pulled those rock that i got from another reefer and letting them dry out. Is that a good idea? Im gonna leave them out for 1 month. Is it possible for aiptasia to come back?
