Other Ways to Dose Kalk

I was dosing Kalk through my ato but the water was evaporating to fast. So i had to go back to dosing 2 part with my bubble magus. When I was using the kalk for that month, I had coralline algae growing all over the place. Now not so much. Do y'all dose kalk other than using ato? Also I was going to dosing it via aqua-lift but don't know how much to dose over night and the apex commands to do so, any advice?

250g total water volume
Dose 67ml of alk
Dont dose cal often

You can use a Kalk reactor or slow drip it at night using a gallon container

i have a 5 gallon bottle that i mixed it in and let it settle overnight and then i slow drip it constantly my readings are 450ppm i pretty much use it as semy evaporative replenishing system

ok how much kalk would I be slowly dripping over night? I really dont want to spend money on a kalk reactor. I figure all the gadgets that I already have, 1 of them should work. lol

Start with a teaspoon and slowly go up. It's usually 2 teaspoons per gallon

I got that part. I'm talking about how much kalk water do I drip to start off? Since I was using the ato, I never had a accurate amount of kalk water to drip in my sump.

would it be best to use an aqualifter so I can have control of it just incase the ph go to far up?

Approx. 100-120 gallons of water with rock. I dose 12x a day (700ml / 12x) this helps to not disrupt or abruptly raise the ph.

I have a BRS 50mil per minute doser and 2, 5gal containers that I alternate from.

I figured out how manny gallons a day I am evaporating and attempt to replace that amount with the doser.

There are 3785.411 mil in a gallon

Dosing for 30 sec every 10 minutes on the APEX thru out a 24hr period. (which is nice and spread out not messing with your pH)

My APEX setting is 000/00:30/09:30 =25mil
which =150 mil per hour and
=3600 mil per 24 hours (which is a little less than a gal)

This can be adjusted to your evaporation needs with a little math.
Im currently using 1/4 cup in my 5 gal container.
You make up 2 containers so one can settle while the other is being used.

P.S. I also have my ATO set up separately just incase I have more evaporation on certain days in the summer.
I also don't have to worry about any ATO pump gunning up from KALK.

You don't have to dose through the day, matter of fact it is better to use it at night when lights are off. If you get something for a gallon of water with some Kalk in it and mix it around 3 hours before you dose you can gravity feed it at a slow drip rate through the night for now till you figure out how to do it this way. Keep your ato with just ro/di and drip dose the Kalk at night and your set

So have your APEX dose it for one min(60sec) every 10min and you will be adding 2gal a day?

James my pH is

8.27 at 8PM and drops to 8.08 by 8AM and then works its way up threw out the day.
I didn't think that was a big enough drop to make me want to only dose at night?

Your thoughts on the fluctuation ?

im going to try a gallon tonight to see what I end with. So should I not dose the alk tonight? or lower the dosage amount?

That's the way I've seen 2 good reefers dose it. Always at night and at a slow drip rate. They both have/had large sps tanks that grew out of the water.
