Am I a low baller?

People here use this term like there describing the lowest of humanity. These are the same people that will by a light for $260. Use it for one year and then try to sell it for $200.
I feel that a light that was used for a year is worth half its price.
Now, does that mke me a low baller????
if it does, then I am a proud low baller thank you

That might be true with lower quality lighting, or older technology, but in demand/popular lighting does not depreciate 50% in one year.

What lights where they? With T5s you have to concider bulb replacement. If you buy a year old 6 bulb t5 for $200 you are going to neee to spend another $120 on bulbs. If they were leds its a different story. You offered what you thought it was worth. He doesn't want to take it he should just say no thanks. If you started a thread over it he was probably be a ****.

I see lots of ads stating low ballers will be ignored or low ballers will be called out. Then 2 months and 3 pages later they are still bumping their thread.


Now it's time to see whonis selling lights for $200 in the for sale section.

I haggle prices on corals all the time 1/2 of the time I get them cheaper, I just dont see whats so negative of somebody offering a low price on something.all you have to say is no , you can laugh if its real low no big deal

IMO an LED fixture, you cant replace LEDs so the price must go down. A T5 or MH fixture may need bulbs BUT is practically brand new with new bulbs.

Unfortunately if u "think" whatever is worth X amount of money doesnt mean the seller "should " sell it at that price.
Offering too low of the asking price is what is a low baller.
A seller can ask whatever he/she feels like. And is not obligated to sell just because u offering what you think is worth.
Like another guy say if the guy was an a*****e then this is good otherwise forget it n keep walking.
Ps: NO low baller likes to be call a "low baller".

U don't like the offer just respectfully decline or god forbid counter ....

Few yrs ago I got called out because I offered a guy $225 for a mp40 he was asking 275
You would have thought I was a total pos the things guys where saying one guy was saying its disrespectful this and that !
I really try to buy new most the time now every single time I've bought used there's been issue and IMO most the stuff being sold isn't worth asking price I'm with u used equipment should be 50-60% of new price otherwise where is the deal for buyer taking risk of buying used that can break the next day

just means the seller is not willing to sell for a cheaper price than the asking price and don't want to deal with the BS offers.

It is Buy and Sell not Haggle & Bargain.

There are cheep people who don't understand by offering a cheep price it could come off as insulting to the seller.

So if some one said no low ballers and I do not want to pay their price I move on

IMO ..I think that low ballers low ball mostly for the satisfaction of breaking the buyer for a low price when they know themselves that if the shoe was on the other foot they expect top dollar.and I agree to an extent but it depends on what they are trying to buy..personally I hardly ever sell (or give anything away)not only due to low ballers but all the B.S. That comes along with trying to finalize a sale(where to meet,do you ship,who pays the shipping,flakes..)I rather throw it away than to deal with it...it's annoying

Example I got this 4 anemones in my spare tank in a store they would sell for at least 80.00 each I would sell them herefor 40.00 each but if somebody said I will give a 100.00 for all 4 I would sell them cause I just want to get rid of them if they dont ask they will never know, just dont see how that would be insulting

Usually if I make an offer lower than the asking price, it's because it's all the money I have to spend. I've sent PMs on occasion that start out with, "in no way do I mean to be insulting, but if you would consider an offer, I would like to make you and offer based on what I have to spend." 9x outta 10, they seller says go for it. And if it's too low, then there's no disrespect by that. If you can afford it and it's the selling price, DONT BE CHEAP JUST TO BE CHEAP.

Let me see if i understand correctly
Because you would sell 4 anemones for 100 instead of 160 (if buy separate) or 320 (if buy at the lfs) then every1 should do it??
This is a online public forum no1 will do what "you think "is right even if is right
