I need a new protein skimmer for my 150 gallon dual overflow tank with a 55 gallon sump.

My reef octopus 2000 sss pump died and I need a skimmer asap.

I'd prefer to spend less the $500. What do you recommend.

Is this pump the old bubble blaster pump model? Cause I believe they have new replacement pumps for these skimmers.
Also, have you tried calling CoralVue to see if there is anything that could be done about your situation? If you did, what did they say? Curious to hear what their feed back was.

thanks

I appreciate the quick responses.

I currently have the skimz protein skimmer in my online shopping cart and will purchase it tmw afternoon if Coralvue doesn't get back to me. I emailed them this morning and we will see what happens.

I am hoping they will just replace the pump!

I appreciate the advice!

I reached out to Coralvue and I am sending my pump out to be looked at. They said if its repairable they will fix it, If not they will replace it.

I guess my tank will have no skimmer for a couple of weeks ;-/

Reduce on the amount you're feeding, do weekly water changes, and open a window on cooler nights for oxygenation. I've ran my system a couple of times skimmer-less for several weeks and things were ok. The only thing I really noticed was a little drop on the PH.
