How many Radion XR30w G3 PRO LEDS WILL I NEED FOR MY TANK?

4 radions are not going to be any where enough on a tank that size, pending what type of coral you plan to keep, would say 5 and run t5's as well, they arent going to give enough coverage front to back

you should aiming 8-1o units for SPS, if is fish only maybe you can go with 6, but you have to deal with dark spots...

I run 4 on my 8' x 2' x 2' and it is fine with a few lower light areas. The wide angle optics would help take care of these areas. Your tank will require a min. of 5 with well thought out rock and coral placement, probably more. I am comfortable recommending 1 Radion for 2' x2' area.

Dark areas are fine. I plan on having 2 rock island. Each island 2ft long and 1.5ft wide. This will be where all the coral are going to be.

I like the radians because you can have them change color every few seconds. Do any other lighting units do that?

However with the wide angle optics, you do lose some par. I have an 80g with two g2's with the wide angle optics, 9" above my water running 68%. My tank is 16". I've noticed a 30"x30" spread with the wide angle lens. Pratt, are you using them? Shark, you might actually be able to get away with 4.

1.5 ??? 17 inch not that deep all. That's the main factor..

So you might be good with say four. Each one does a 3 foot x3 foot area at 9 inch above water.

Brand it is 18in very shallow. It used to be a touch tank.

I ordered 2 and the reef link. I will play around with the two of then and determine how many I need.

What do you think of this idea? Radions over my islands changing colors AMD kessils for the rest.

I don't think changing colors constantly is good for corals. They'll never have time to adjust. I'd do some research before you start messing with animals. Even the fish I don't think would appreciate it.

It won't be changing all the time. Just when I have people over and want to enjoy it. This is what makes radions so great. It's more then just lights. Are there any units with similar features?

I don't think any lights come with a "disco" feature as these are for live creatures not shows.

Actually one of the test modes for the radions can do disco style lighting it's cool but will prob cause seizures in the fish :splitspin
