Question:
What invert can I buy that eats this persistent little pest?

Answer:
Emerald crabs will help but are not the total answer.

Emerald crabs are very safe for reef tanks.

Question:
And also why do I have it?

Answer:
All micro and macro algae?s are natural.

Question:
What are the causes for bubble algae?

Answer:
Any micro algae need two things to grow, lighting and a food source.

Each different micro algae has its own requirements to flourish.

In my 20 plus years in the saltwater hobby, I only had a Bubble Algae bloom twice.

I associated the Bubble Algae bloom with using too much Iodide and or Iodine.

Iodide and or Iodine are a nutrient (i.e. food source for Bubble Algae).

REMADY:
Test your Iodide Level and adjust slowly.

Get a few Emerald crabs.

Remove loose rocks out of tank and scrub & rinse in saltwater.

Rocks that you can not remove out of tank, carefully hand remove Bubble Algae.

I recommend using a carbon reactor to help remove the Bubble Algae spores.

Good Luck!

be careful if u remove it by hand... if you pop the bubble it will release many lil spores...

Well it?s DAMNED if you do, and DAMNED if you don?t situation.

If you leave the bubble algae alone they spread!

One way or another majority of the bubble algae must be removed when you a have a bubble algae bloom .

Emerald crabs are hit or miss. When they are a hit, they normally only eat the small bubbles. Similar to CBB only eating the small aptasia.

Steve, LMK if you want me to get a couple for you. You can have them tomorrow.
