I have a 75 gallon tank and I was wondering if I should go with 2 Mp40's or Mp10's to create alternating currents in my tank, here is the source of my question: according to several online retailers the mp10 is rated for tanks up to 55 gallons, however both a standard 75 and and a 55 are 48" long. Can i use mp10s or is it better to splurge a little more for the mp40s?

Better to go with 2 MP40s. I have a 65g, (36") and 1 MP10 and 1 MP40. I started out with 1MP10 and was planning to get a second one, but realized that it didn't meet my needs. Especially when I run it with the foam cover.

I was thinking that as well, but I was looking online and I found videos from the manufacturer showing one Mp40 creating some impressive waves in a 90 gallon, do i really need two or will one mp40 on pulse mode create the current i need

It really all depends on your needs and preference. Some will say that 1MP40 will be enough. I got 2 pumps because I wanted to run in sync/anti-sync mode. This works out well for the various modes that the MPs could run on (reef crest, long/short pulse, etc). Also, I run my pumps somewhere between 50-75%.
Take a look at this link http://ecotechmarine.com/calculator/
According to this calculator, 2 MP10s won't be enough to get you into the "Optimal" zone.
Also, if you don't care about all the features of a Vortech then you might want to look at some of the alternatives available. Jaebo has been popular, I have 2 WP25s sitting in the closet as backups.
