Hey Matt you should start algae scrubber and if you need to borrow mine you are most welcome to use it until you build yours, Bio pellet reactor is iffy I am not sure since I have never had good outcome out of that method, but you have seen my tank in person when it was running. I would say start with algae scrubber and take it from there, this will not change in a week or month but slowly you will be able grow hair algae in your scrubber not in your display tank....

If your in the cycle stage then its just keeping up with basic things such as water changes, running phosban ect....

But make sure these are on your list

- Do big water changes
- Run Phosban and Carbon
- Get a great skimmer
- Also get a big clean up crew everything from A-Z. Each part of the clean up crew should take care of something in the tank.

-What lights are you running and for how long?

-Do you have a fugue?

Once you have everything in place it will take time but remember Rome was not built in one day ;)....

Matt this happened to me a while back on a little tank :) Look where the GHA is growing. That is old rock that was dried from a previous tank, loaded with phosphate.

It did turn into this eventually

It took a couple months to get rid of the algae. In my case I ran an obscene amount of GFO, added a clean up crew, and manual removal. If I had this problem on a tank your size I would look in lanthaum chloride dosing initially to wipe out the algae.
If your tank isn't all that bad with GHA I would just run a full reactor of gfo along with any other nutrient export method, especially wet skimming. As Tony suggested, a good clean up crew will wipe out quite a bit.

Its just going to take time...just watch the feedings and keep up with the husbandry...and becareful to slowly step up the GFO..too much too quickly will strip the water too fast and play havoc with your Alk....both can kill acros.

I plan on adding 5-6 emerald crabs
2 more conchs
30 or so nassarius
50 blud legs

But this is a nurient issue for sure even If I had these I'd still have hair alage out the wazzzzou
