Not sure if this is the right forum but here we go....

Bought an Apex and a probe from a vendor at the swap and need to swap them. He sold me the wrong unit and gave me the wrong probe. The vendor lost money on the probe (gave me a way more expensive one then I needed). Want to make arrangements to swap everything out and cannot get them to respond to phone calls or messages. Not going to go with their name on here because they are a vendor on the forum but the service and response has left more than a bad taste in my mouth. Hope to get the situation corrected soon but not feeling to confident about it. Any suggestions on how to go about it?

In past messages I've actually gotten responsed to. He says he is in the middle of a move. Always says send me my number so he can call me. Never does. When you try and google map the address of the store it directs you to some place in Iowa. I can understand that you're busy but so is everyone else. I get maybe one day off a week. Sometimes I only get a half a day to relax. I dont want to make plans to try and come out there if I can't even get a response. I wanted to go the Friday after the swap but got stuck working and my car was in the shop this past Friday. Like I said, I'd rather not say the name of the business on here but if it comes to that point I will

There is no such thing as bad press.
While I can easily say that you feel that you are doing the right thing by the vendor, you are not doing the site any justice by withholding any information from your peers.
People will continue to purchase from vendors, stores and the like regardless.

Everyone will eventually gripe about things from their vendors (price is too high, can't get in contact with them, etc etc...) but you would be able to offer up a view on how a vendor can read and hopefully make a change the way they handle business.

i agree. they are the supply and we are the demand. Simple economics dictates that Supply must keep up with Demand, other wise Demand will go find its supply somewhere else. Put the name out and maybe that will finally get them to talk to you.

U can always go to a third party I'm pretty sure there are a lot of lawyers on this site who can give u advice if u ask around. Thru the years of reef keeping and when I used to work in retail ive learn that some time its miscommunication on both sides. And when I used to work in retail sometimes things ddo get hectic and sometimes the manufacturer doesn't want to cover their end of warrantee or want to even deal with returns. Sometimes its best to shout them out on here so they can respond in their defense there is always three sides to the story ur side his side and the actual event. Maybe u should throw his name out there.

I'd call them out don't care who they are if there is a issue and they haven't replied back to u in a good enough time frame then do what u must. Put them on BLAST u paid for something and the issue should have been fixed already.

You would think he would want to get this probe back. Asked for a 70 dollar pH probe which he sold to me for $65. Instead got a conductivity probe that sells for $125. Wouldn't any right-minded person want it back? He's losing money and don't get me started on the Apex. Sold me what was supoosed to be an Apex Jr that only came with the base unit, temp probe and no display. Didnt know they sold them this way and he didnt realize the error nor did I until I brought it to the car and looked at it. Looked his reviews up online and they're terrible! My first mistake was not researching his business reviews. I don't want this to get ugly but I have a feeling it may

Yes, this is us.

I think I should take a moment to set the record straight. At the swap, I sold the customer an Apex controller and pH probe. I accidentally handed him an ORP probe instead. He contacted me after the swap and told me about the mistake and I offered to send him the correct probe immediately along with the display unit which was missing from the box. At that time he asked if he could swap the controller for a different model (which was more expensive). I told him it was no problem and we made arrangements for him to come by the next weekend to exchange the unit, pick up the correct probe and pay the difference in price. The customer pm'd me that the scheduled weekend was not good due to financial reasons, so we agreed to get together aftermy move. When I offered to send a call tag for the old parts and ship the replacements by FedEx, he politely refused.

Today is the first time I have been on the forum in more than a week. Phil, there is a link to our website on every pm I have ever sent you, there is a link to our website is on every forum post I have ever made on Manhattan Reefs, and there is a phone number prominently displayed on every page of our website. You knew we were moving and you knew the timing, yet you call me out on the forums for not giving you proper customer service.

I think its unfortunate that you choose to complain about our communication here in public, you could easily have contacted me directly. Our phones never went down during the move and I never received an email from you.

Regardless, I look forward to seeing you this weekend to finally exchange the controller.

I agree with you John. However when I tried calling you last Wednesday (11/27) the phone rang and rang and when I was prompted to ask which department I wanted I got the same thing. Even tried driving out to you that day and there was no spot on my GPS or Google Maps for the storefront. Sorry about my displeasure, I just thought I was being thrown to the side. I act a bit hasty sometimes. No disrespect. Looking forward to resolving everything when we meet
