Ode to renegade reefing!!!

I have long gotten rid of my test kits, I have let go of the number theories and need to play mad scientist on the weekends with pin point precision , I have resulted to a squirt of calcium here and there , and a few drops of iodide and some mag and the occasional water change and my tank has never looked better ! Sometimes the saltwater game needs a few drops of reckless abandon and caution to the wind.................long live the renegade style of reefing!

Exactly , it's a brain racking tool , forget that business , what if the regents are messed up and you end up overdosing your tank and crash it? Those numbers are mind bending

I used to run my previous tank like that. It was an lps tank with a few acros. Ever since I went full sps the renegade thing was a little to risky. I always have to test my alkalinity if anything once or twice a month to ensure my calcium reactor is functioning properly. It's great to sit bAck and just enjoy your tank.

This method of yours is more like a precautionary measure vs a strict maintenance regimen , your in the dark side as well ...... Here have a flashlight my friend .

Wow how I miss this thread its about my style we welcome u to the renegade style of reefing saltwaterinbk this style of reefering is def my thing not telling anyone to do what I do but it been all 2 years and I only check salinity I have fully stack 150g mix reef and to be honest I pat my self on the shoulder sometime at how am been cooking this reefing thing my tank grow corals like crazy keep renegade force alive my fellow reefer

All day! Great expectations in the dark side , I just check salt level once a month and very little additives are added if any and I gauge my reefs health by the expansion of my Yumas , my Gsp outbreak and the freakish growth of my zoas and waving hand anthelia .

I stopped testing for alk when it wouldn't read above 4. Only run tests when something looks obviously wrong, or when trying to change mag or something.

Few beers my next best friend I just get right and sit back and take a long at my tank and that's all the test I need I have few maker corals soft& hard and when they look dropy I know what time it is
