I am pretty certain that most of the serious bidders are bigtime clownfish breeders who envision being able to recoup their investment and generate great profit down the line. Considering this is the progeny of the single most talked about/ documented individual fish in the history of the hobby, the price is not surprising at all.

These clowns r really cool IMO I'm guessing only a breeder would buy these ATM but I'd like to get one some day if they drop to 100$ range cool story behind them also

If I was a rich boy I would get one only if it wasn't a clown. I don't care what color it is, clowns just chill in the corner of the tank anyway. You wouldn't even ever see him. But in theory it's a cool color I guess. A damsel would be better in that color since they're fun and very active fish.
