Hi was wondering who like shallow tanks and who likes deep tanks, I'm debating on the two. I like the picture look, now that my tank might change from a 150 build to a 200 gallon build. Going bigger in mind cause if I like two have a few tangs in tank I want to be safe on room, I'm using saltwar fish handbook, app is good using it to help me plan fish I want to keep. So anyones comment on what tank you have what you like deep or shallow, and anyone knows 200 gallon tank demension also stand height. Cause this year I plan to have tank up and running iamo what tank I decide on for shore. Thanks

It really depends on personal taste. I would try to check out both in person and see which you like better in dimension. Better yet, find some who has those tank you had in mind and pay them a visit. I thought I love this dimension tank I had, but after I set up my and compare to my friends tank view, I kind of regret not do what I recommended. Good luck on the upgrade.

I have a deep blue 80, its a shallower tank at 18 inches which i love and its 2 ft wide

I have the same tank and love it. I believe it's 16" tall though.
I did upgrade to a larger tank which is not running yet. It's a 150 gallon, 6' long and only 20" high. It's also 24" wide like the Deep Dimension tank.

I used to have a 72"x30"h tank. It was beautiful to look at but since I always like to fiddle with things in the tank, either changing aquascape or hand scraping the bottom corners from coralline, I am really appreciating the shallow tank. I keep the glass spotless all around. I don't think I could keep up with it as easily with a taller tank. So if you always seem to have your hands in the tank like me I say go for the shallow tank.

I agree.

Generally, a shallow tank will require less light to reach the bottom. However, if you want a mixed reef, it might be tough getting enough light for SPS/anemones while finding places for lower light corals in the same tank. There will naturally be more variation with a deep tank.

For me, taller tanks look nice but are more difficult to aquascape and are a PITA when trying to reach the bottom (cleaning, frag placement, etc). It's one of the reasons why I got rid of my 24 inch cube and went with a 20inch cube.

I do like the shallow cube look. Sitting in the middle of a room with a central drain and a closed loop system circulating water. Or sitting against the wall with 3 sides visible. I feel it gives you better access to corals and makes aquascaping easier. However, I've seen some pretty impressive large deep tanks. The one over at Manhattan Aquariums is really nice and would be how I would want to go if I had a in wall tank.

I feel with shallow tanks the open sand is the most appealing part, but with deep tanks I have always liked the central valley with two rock walls on the sides.

Shallow standard is 18 " tall and comes 20 " tall and 24" in width is it ok for dimension, I plan still on a six feet long tank, love the Yellow tang he's my first choice, looking into other tangs using saltwater fish handbook to help choose.

So thank you all for opinions feedback.
