Although i'm sorry for your loss, this is the funniest thing ever. wrasses are scavengers, picking at every crack and crevice for a morsel of food. So technically the wrasse didn't do anything wrong. and the clam was just protecting itself.

I had a bonded pair of clowns , 1 got coughs the same way. I first tried to pry open ....dumb idea......then shut lights off sand he opened .....fish lived with 2 bulging eyes forever

Yes. This is exactly what happened I was just tryin to make a joke, comparing the clam to a suicide bomber. I didn't try to pry him open just let it be until he released the fish but he was still a goner
