Airstone for Protein skimmer

Does anybody know of any good airstones for a protein skimmer. I used to use the 3" coralife limewood stones but they are no longer made. Thanks

i went to my local PetCo and could not find the limestone cube. am trying a regualr air stone right now. BUT as others have mentioned, would prefer to modify my biocube and install a better protein skimmer

Limewood is BS you have to replace one every week. Use ceramic or get a better skimmer...

i agree its a mediocre skimmer but easier to buy a $6 stone right now than modify my current hood on my biocube.

Is it true that limestone airstones can be soaked in bleach solution and reused? Someone gave me an airstone skimmer and I'm curious to try it out on a quarantine tank. I heard the skimmers work well but the chore of changing the airstones is the problem.

i had a limestone airstone and it literally disintegrated over a 2 year period. i certainly would not soak the airstone in bleach.

i used to wash my filter socks with water and bleach with no issues, but that was on a 200 gallon tank. have to rinse it very well! but those wooden cubes fall apart with just salt water and i doubt that you can clean them, and a small amount of bleach in a small tank could be a disaster.
