New fish

Hello everyone, purchased this fish on Thursday and can't remember the name of it.... I think it had banana in its name. I haven't had any luck on line. If anyone can help me out. Thanks in advance, Danny.

Hi Danny,

What you have is a Juv. from the Pentapodus family, Whiptail or Sea Bream. Most likely Pentapodus caninus, or Banana fish. They can get quite large, adult 10"+. I got a couple from Greenwich Aquaria a few years ago. They were approx. 2" long when I got them, grow a couple of inch in 1 year. They are very hardy, good feeder and non-aggressive in this size. Very kewl fish.

Thanks for the info. Deff looks like the pics you posted. I love the fish, eats like a pig, never hides and loves the water flow from my vortechs. I'm going to try to pick up another one or two of these. Also I'm getting ready for my upgrade to the 125 or 180. I'm sure it will love it.
