Will paint fumes kill my coral?

I am looking to re-paint my house with water based paint. I am concerned that the fumes may affect the tank. I have an inside the tank skimmer located in my sump. Do I have anything to worry about and if so will Eco friendly paint be a better option. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Benjamin Moore Aura paint has virtually no fumes, but it is expensive.

You can shrink wrap your tank and extend your airline from your skimmer to the outside to pull in fresh air

I repainted my whole place and I even painted all around my tank and even dripped some paint in the tank lol and no problem at all!! Paint away hombre!!

I painted and wallpapered and never had any issues. I even painted a tank stand with the tank set up and never ran into any problems.

That is good to know. Any particular paint?

I can't remember the brand, but it was moister resistant high gloss paint. I do remember it cost around $40.00 a gallon though.

Yes you can. Been there! Done that! Flushed the fish!!!

If you can open the windows and run carbon for upto a week after the painting is done and change the carbon about 1/2 way thru. It would probably be a good idea to do a water change or 2. I lost a few corals too. I thought it was my first crash that happened out of the blue. It was because of the paint and I did NOT use oil-based paints. I never had a crash before that happened.
