Currently running a 30 gal long with no sump. Just aqua remora skimmer and a couple powerheads. Not growing any pods tho so debating adding a sump.

If i did add a sump, how do i get water out of the DT? And what size/type pump do i need to move water back into DT?

Seem to recall that there are issues if return pump fails and DT syphon continues sending water....causing sump to overflow.

Any cool ideas on running a side-by-side sump that acts as a second display tank? Or is that just too much like a HOB?

the sump would help with the growth of pods. as for the water exiting the tank you could use an overflow box and have the sum on a high stand next to the display tank. i have my 120 set up with a 55 fuge right next to it its just like 6 inches shorter than the top of the overflow box so that the siphon still works. as for the return pump just chose one that would be a little higher than the overflow so it accounts for the head pressure. best of luck
