Well it finally happened. I've been in the hobby for a tad over two years and my Ocellaris Clowns just spawned for the first time.

I know it's not a real big deal to many of you, but when it happens for the first time it sort of validates everything we've been doing in our captive environments. To me, spawning represents all the elements being just right, the stars are in alignment. :flower:

I'm also aware that the eggs most likely will be gone in the morning, but I did get to witness it while it happened. As a matter of fact, I felt sort of voyeuristic watching them :Up_to_som . Bad swimmer, bad  . I even took out my camera, adjusted the settings, focused, and then slinked away sheepishly, as if I was 'intruding' on their 'moment'. :bunnies:

Oh well, I'm going to fire up a chocolate cigar and revel in the moment.

Thanks guys. I checked on them this morning. I can't see the eggs, they laid them in the wall hammer (12"+ skeleton) and the polyps are out. But, the clowns are both, right on the spot that they did the :bunnies: last night

Bad thing is, the cleaner shrimp is hovering right over that area too. He's waiting to dive in there for the kill :fight2:

Thanks for the 'grats. I'll keep ya posted.

Mike, no pix. I felt sort of guilty for trying to get a pic last night  . They were still doing the :bunnies: and I didn't want the flash to 'ruin the moment' :wineglass Not sure I'll be able to snap a pic today, but I'll try.

congrats!

anyway to keep those eggs alive till they hatch? I always wondered about that... and what happens if/when they do hatch?

Smorgasboard for the rest of the fish, crabs and snails!!

BTW, I've never heard of them hatching and surviving in a small setup like mine (75g). Any person breeding them removes them and puts them into a small QT type tank.
I guess my next purchase is Joyce Wilkerson's book.

Thanks house and steve.
