I had the same issue with my salifert kit. I got a new Redsea and they were way off. I used my friends test with his Salifert kit and it matched the redsea. So obvs my salifert was toast.

You need a third test. Ask a friend to help you out.

Did you retest both? try it maybe you missed something before. Also for Alk I use API is the easiest and faster test. And for Alk the accuracy is more than enough. I used it for years in my SPS tank.

I everything fails than get the average of both. that would be about 8.??

Salifert alk usually reads higher than some other test kits, Habib the owner of Salifert has gone into detail on why this happens on a few threads in reefcentral. I would run a test against the check solution given in the box. Personally I put more trust into Salifert than Red Sea but thats just me.

I want to its just thats a large swing i was expecting it to swing 2 or 3 points but damn from 7.8 to 9.9 thats a big difference and the wife won't let me buy the hanna test kits lol
