I am looking into buying a aqueon 120 reef ready tank. It comes with dual mega flow built in overflows. I was wondering if power is lost since these overflows draw water from the top middle and bottom. How do I prevent a flood? Any ideas or experience with these tanks

water does not actually flow in from the middle and bottom, well not actually into the overflow. The water has to go over the TOP of the overflow and into the box. So you will only have water continuing to flow until it reaches the lowest part of the teeth in the overflows, unless you get a siphon on the return tubes and then the water may flow until the siphon breaks.
