Thermometer

What do you find is the most accurate type of thermometer? We have a digital that we use, a stick on the outside of the glass and one that reads with a red line that is on the inside of the aquarium. We don't heat our house except with a wood stove so it can get chilly inside the house. I am getting different readings from all three, which one do I believe?

This reminds me of our first engineering lad many years ago.

We had several thermometers in ice water and then in boiling water.

Guess what? None of them agreed.

Lesson was to always check your instrumentation. And there will always be measurement errors.

Unless you can compare the thermometers at tank temperatures to known good national bureau of standards equipment, it is impossible to tell which one is the most accurate. And they are all off to some extent. All we can hope for is that they are "close enough".
