A pond is much easier to maintain than a backyard full of grass. When your kids get older and move out and you get to mow every week, you'll really want one!

I am not. Once the pond is set up, we change the filter pads once ia while, maybe 2 or 3 times a year. We add top off water, depending on the heat, every week or so? And, I feed the fish.

Compare that to weekly moving, weeding, fertilizing? We used to have at least an hour of mowing, in the hot sun. Once the teenage boys grew up, I found out how much that sucks.....

Plus, the lawn used much more water than the pond. $$$$$$
