dont know what it is but my clown tang has sores on both sides of him and keeps ribbing against the sand. any ideas? could it be another fish picking on him cause i do not see any aggression in my tank. thanks

Just because you see no white spots does not mean a fish is ich free...

But anyhow without some kind of picture we can not accurely determine what is wrong with your fish..

Looks to be some kind of infection, what other fish do you have? Or it could be flukes do you notice anyother of your fish scratching or flashing?

No just him, on both sides almost exactly the same spots. Is it possible there scrapes healing and making it itch like it would for us? I did recently rearrange the tank. No other fish has this issue, he isnt acting stressed as he still attacks my algae scrapper.

it's hard to tell from the picture but if he's flickering off rocks then he's got to have some sort of internal parasites witch clown tangs are very well known for.you still didn't anser how old is your system

your setup is still to young to be housing that many fish especially a species like a clown tang there survival rates are very poor even for the experienced aquariest my best experience with them was copper safe & prazi-pro or do hypo with prazi-pro good luck

the tank is 5 months current. it was running for a year and the room i moved them in got extremely cold (just bought house) and tank crashed. sand, rock is that of age. it is a reef tank and corals/ inverts and all other fish are doing absolutely well with near perfect parameters. it literally just appeared after the change of habitat ( total reset up.) which could have stressed him, but that fast? wasnt there for sure 2 days ago. i did add a tang recently which is in perfect health/ eats great which most likely stressed him also, but to the extreme of parasite growth that rapid? pics arent good at all, but it almost looks like he was picked on which didnt happen but the image it gives to better explain it
