Hi everyone, this is Patrick's girlfriend Shelby.
Pat and I have had an ocellaris clownfish for about a year now, and have researched getting a new one. I read on various sources that they are peaceful except when introduced to their own kind, but then read that sometimes one will just dominate the other and become female. My question is, has anyone introduced a new ocellaris clown into a tank after having one for over a year? Thank you! :)

Just put a new ocellaris in last month. I had a much larger one in my tank for a year and saw Petco selling them for $12.00 so my wife bought me one (yes!!). The new one kind of hid a little, hung out at the top until the old one went over to it and escorted it to the anemone. Now they are 'living together'. I was worried ab introducing the new fish but it worked out great for me. Good luck!

It is hit or miss. If you do add look for signs of aggression and be ready to quarantine the more aggressive fish. It has worked for me in the past.

It can be done, however just keep watch over them when introducing. I had a clowns in my tank for a year before introducing a black/white ocellaris when one of them did show aggression towards it (eventually/unfortunately that aggressive clown jumped out).
The remaining clown and the black/white did pair up shortly after.

I had a 2" ocellaris in my tank (30 gal) for a few months when I introduced 2 others....which were about an inch or so long. There was never a problem...maybe because I introduced 2 instead of 1. The larger one I guess is dominant, but they spend most of their time bobbing there heads up and down. I've had them for several years now, and they are still the same size...slightly better color, but same size.

Thanks! I think we'll try to add at least one more next weekend.
