ok so after much thought i have finally put my new feeding method to the test. those of use who keep tang know that they will not eat nori that is free floating if its bigger then there eye (size reference)

so the issue is when u use a vegi clip a lot of times they eat from the base cause, im guessing here, they like to pull and pluck, thats how they graze. so lot of time because of this behavior large pieces of nori end up caught in the overflow slits, or on power heads. and this will decompose and cause dirty water cause snails are slow lol :irked:

so my solution; so after thinking i came to the idea that the best way to feed them is to restrict how much they can bite of at a time......so by using the plastic mesh that vegitables come in i cut some nori wrapped a round rock with it, then tied the mesh over it! and vuala! the only problem was that they wouldnt go near it cause it was un familiar to them lol, so after an hour of hand feeding my naso, he was the first to take a bite! and 5min later my yellow tang and so on. after they got comfortable with the rock i realized that if it werent for the naso it would have taken days to get them to switch, thankfully hes used to had feedings!

and theres my story :bablefish

@marrone, my tangs are all under 5" so anything bigger then a fingernail is ignored. My sally light foot used to position its self to where the current would carry the big pieces, he doesn't do that anymore :/

@jaa yea man so as of now they're making short work of the rock.

@wonderballz hahah I would never! It simple enough for anyone to do

@ryan mine didn't have that, and the main reason I did this was cause I wanted to put large amounts of nori, so that the can eat all day like they do in nature.

all my tangs where diffrent really.. u had some that niped and diped lol and then i had a few who liked to continue to nip at it until it whent free then chase it..idk weird but true..

the only fish that use to eat the floating pieces was my faxface it had teeth so it made short work of any size nori, but i sold him cause he was also using his teeth to biting my naso. :irked:

My last tang was ok with the clip and never tore off large pieces. My clownfish, on the other hand, would rip off huge chunks of it, then spit them out halfway across the tank. He wouldn't actually eat any of it, just rip it off and make a mess.
