Lawnmower Blenny Sucide?

Just found my new lawnmower blenny on the floor! I've only had him for a few days. Does anyone know if they are known to be jumpers or if he was just probably scared into jumping out. Not sure if I should get a new one or cut my losses.

Every fish has the potential to jump.

Get a glass top or make a mesh top for your tank. then decide if you want to purchase another lawnmower.

Many fish tend to jump, blennies do it very often.

Best not to replace him until you get a mesh cover on the tank.

btw - fish have no idea they are jumping into air - it seems they think there is water outside of their tanks too...

I am sorry for your loose. We all have nets obn our tanks.

Maby another fish was bullying that fish and it jumped out fo the tank?

I also have a question; tank hight plays a role in whether a fish jumps no? all my fish are afraid to get too close to the surface and when they do they're very nervous and jittery

Any fish can jump. I've lost pipefish to carpet surfing.

I prefer an open top rather than an enclosed top. Better air circulation, etc. So if you have to enclose the top, try to get some of the recommended types of tops that don't fully enclose, such as a mesh, etc. that has already been recommended.

In addition, you can limit some of your jumping if you purchase fish that are less aggressive.

For instance I have a diamond goby that I have heard is a jumper. Had him for many years. When I had an aggressive tank, he mostly hid. Once I converted to a non aggressive reef setup, I see him all of the time.

We've had a Lawnmower (GREAT personality!) for about 6 months with no jumping trouble at all...wish I could say the same of our track record with Diamond Gobies R.I.P.
