I bought a new tang yesterday, He was sitting in the LFS for around 2 months and I said if I go back and its still there I will buy it. Well in the 2 months it didn't really grow, still the size of a quarter. I have it in the QT and I tried getting a pic of it, but it's still hiding and I don't wanna stress it out. Well heres a description, It has a black to dark gray body, The tail fin is white and the swim fins are white(the fins on either side of its body). The body shape resembles an achilles tang/clown tang. The closest fish I found is the Bariene, I know there is another tang I can picture in my mind but I can not find on the Web. Any Ideas thanks

I looked at easily over a thousand pics, most were the same fish under different names. But still none that have these same color patterns. It was out eating the Nori earlier and I might be able to snap a pic of it if it stays out.

This is exactly what the tang looks like, although it is also the only picture I could find out of all the Bariene tangs that looks like it. It has other names as well(blackspot or eyespot) says it gets over a foot in length and is a rarely seen tang.

I looked up all of the ones mentioned, None resemble the fish exactly. The white freckled has black in its tail and stripes on the body in the pics I have seen. And also blue along the bottom fin. The Bolchii looks very different as a Juvi from the pics I have found. Either way if it is any of them I have come to 2 conclusions. It's gonna be one nice looking fish and also I won't be able to keep it when it gets larger.

not a bariene, would agree with what the others said, definately not an orange shoulder, as they are all yellow when juv. Either way, more valuable than an orange shoulder.
How much was it?

Yea it was ID'ed as an Orang shoulder. I know its not one and I knew that when I bought it. They are yellow as Juvis and I have seen hundreds of them. But for the 25 bucks they wanted I picked up the tang.

Do you have any experience with them at all? And any pics of the Juvi's? I'm very familiar with the adult Dr surgeons, but not to familiar with the Juvi's. But I did talk to the LFS I got it from and they said it defintely came in with their Indo order. Not with the caribbean order. So either the Wholesaler threw it in from a caribbean stock or it really did come from the Indo. Or the LFS told me a lie haha
