I'd check with Jason at Greenwich Aquaria. I know he has been playing around with a few species that stay smaller and are reportedly even reef safe. Most species neither stay small nor are reef safe thus the comments above :) Apparently in Europe they are quite common in larger reef tanks.... but you need to get the right species.

I have to say that if the smaller ones act anything like the larger ones, then I really don't think it is right to keep them at all.

Unlike clowns/gobies/blennies that live their lives in a couple cubic feet of ocean, the Parrotfish I have seen when diving range for miles a day. It always seemed cruel to me to keep fish like that in a tank.

+1 on skip it

Buying these fish means that collectors will keep bringing them into the hobby.

So even if you can somehow take care of one (which would require more than a 6 ft tank), the majority of people who purchase them cannot.

Stop buying fish like this, and collectors will leave them alone.
