will the ick be killed off in the tank after the 6-8 weeks? or are they dormant, when i bring the SG back to normal it would rehatch. Anyone can provide me with the procedure to perform the hypo.

The ONLY way you can guaranty that your display tank is free of any stage of the ich cyst after 6-8 weeks is if you ran the display tank 100% fallow for the entire 6-8 weeks. If you have infected fish in the display you cannot possibly guaranty you will be rid of ich. The tank MUST BE FALLOW.

if that's the case the main tank SG can be left at 1.023 for 6-8 weeks, this would break the cycle as there would be no host for the ick. That means i need to find a 55gal QT tank. (Anyone have one i can borrow?)

The salinity in the main tank can remain at what you usually keep it at, it is the removal of all the fish (hosts) that break the cycle.

I wish I had a tank to loan you, hopefully someone does. If not, a large (inexpensive) rubbermaid tote would make a good QT tank.

Correct. If all potential hosts have been removed from the display tank, the cysts that fall off and hatch will have no host to survive. This is the best way to rid your display of all ich.

When you have the fish removed and in the QT, you can treat the QT with Ruby Reef Kick Ich.
