hippo is in my reef tank. ive had him about a year he is very healthy. he has grown very quickly, and has out grown my tank (72 bow). i have know idea how i can get him out with out hurting him. my tank is very overgrown with coral, and stuff can't be moved around. he has become very aggressive twords his tank mates and is starting to pick at the tips of my acros. any suggestions.

get a aquarium fish trap and try ur luck till he gets in.

i just accomplish this with my tang who was out growing my 72 gal . i fed with flake food waited for him to come up and got him with my wide net 1st attempt was successful now he is my 100 gal with plenty of room

just got lucky i had been watching him for awhile didn't want to tear up the tank .

try this, works great for me. Leave the trap in the tank for 2-3day plus dont feed them. On the third day put some frozen food inside the trap and watch the fish go crazy trying to get to the food. Yes, fish trap is the way to go. I was trying to get another fish out of my tank, and it was the hippo that kept trying (and succeeding!) to get into the trap time and again. You can ask to borrow one from another user!

I just caught some of my fish yesterday. I left my fish net inside the tank for 2 days so they can get used to it. being in there. I didnt feed the tank for 2 days. And then the second day i put food inside the net. After I did that I just about scoop up half of the fish that was in my tank including the bad ass sixline wrasse that I been trying to get out for the past 2 weeks.
