Dendrochirus brachypterus-Dwarf Fuzzy Lion

Here are a couple of quick shots of my new Dwarf Fuzzy Lionfish (Dendrochirus brachypterus). I just picked him up from Nikki about an hour ago and it is settling in nicely into an in tank QT enclosure. I'm planning on acclimating him to the tank conditions and getting him feeding well on frozen foods before releasing him into my 125g. reef.

I've always wanted one, and was inspired by Simon's great article to give one a go in reef setting.

Just don't let it near anything it can fit in its rather large mouth. I have 2 in my 55g reef and they have swallowed a few of my clownfish babies that I was sure would not fit in their mouths. Hope it keeps that yellow coloration.

Sanjay: Understood. There is nothing in the reef even close to the size of a baby clown so I don't anticipate any problems there. Nikki has had it for awhile and it has held it's color.

Reeftanker: I have no idea if it is a rare color morph or not.

That was about 8 year ago, they sell for a whole lot less.

Just because its not expensive, or super rare, doesn't mean it's not a great fish to have. People get caught up in expensive and rare things, which a lot of the time aren't the best looking thing.

I totally agree, I loved my little fuzzy dwarf and plan on getting another once I get the biocube back up and running.
