I'd like to get a small, peaceful, active fish for my cube tank. I love the anthias, but I'm afraid the Bartlett's won't have enough swimming room.

Does anyone have experience keeping this fish in a small-ish tank?

(I have a 45 gallon cube, 2ft x 2ft x 18height)

Right now I have a very peaceful mix of 2x Onyx clowns, 1 Purple firefish, and 1 BSJF (who might have to be re-homed).

I may also consider a peaceful wrasse if I can find one I like.

Algae blennies are active and have really cool eating habits. I've heard clown gobies are interesting and personable. You could get more than one of those.

I've had algae blennies (and their cousins before)... I like them, but I'm looking for a fish that swims more in the open water column rather than hops from rock to rock.

i had a trio of bartletts in a 75 and they did really nicely. Theyre great fish. If you get a wrasse make sure you have a top of some sort because they will end up on the floor

The 4 line wrasse has a better temperament than the 6 line. I'm also 100% sure that your clowns would be doing the beating lol.

LOL. Trust me. I'm realllly hoping that doesn't happen.. as my old pair of black and whites were little terrors. My onyx are just babies though and are very tame... ...for now.

I like the Midas Blenny idea. I'm also considering a Sunburst Anthias but I'm concerned about getting one to eat. They're absolutely stunning fish though, and IMO don't require a tank as large as the other anthia would because they're more stationary.
