normal actions of a yellow watchman goby?

I just purchased a small ( 1.5" ) yellow watchman goby like 3 days ago and i havent seen him since the night i put him in the tank is it normal for them to not come out in the open much i just want to make sure he/she is getting food

mine stays all day in his cave.. he just comes out when its feeding time and when its time to filter sand around the tank

the yellow watchmen will dig into your sand bed by the rock work and hide till it get use to the tank b4 coming out dont worry =)

I have a tiny yellow watchman also, he stays under a rock and didn't see him for a few days after I put him in, he still barely comes out but when I feed he will poke his head out...I think your fine give it some time.

I have two in my 75. They hid for a few days but after that they settled down. One stays out all day, the other hides and occasionally comes out only under one ledge. When I feed some of the chunks go behind the rock and he must eat that.

do you have a top on your tank? Gobies are known to go carpet diving

an eggcrate top but i would imagine by now i would have found and or smelled something

My first Diamond Goby jumped Was in the tank at night gone in the morning. I looked for it for weeks found it under the bed 8' from the tank covered in dog hair. Never a smell it was dry as a potato chip

yea--most likely he took a leap.. :-( my first goby flew out the tank the first night found the poor guy hard as a rock.. i use an egg crate on top now.
