2 Weeks ago bought a pair of T Perc's. A couple of days ago(3) I noticed one -- presume the male start a dance like he was being electrocuted.
Since then I have not seen the pair really leave their host anemone. Especially the side of the anemone. Today I seen one of them nipping at the Fire Shrimp to get it away from the area. My question is, Has any member ever had a pair successfully spawn in there aquarium? I haven't noticed any eggs because the anemone is lodge between to ledges of rock and view of the base is next to impossible. So I can't tell if there are eggs deposited. I've researched the breeding habits and behaviors and it is identical to what has happened. I'm thinking of adding a ball of cheto to the tank for the fry.. if there will be any. Any suggestions from reefers who bred T Perc's in captivity would really be appreciated.

Thanks & Happy Reefing!!

the fresh eggs will be bright orange and hard to miss. The clowns will lay eggs like clockwork if they are actually spawning, that's the easy part. Raising the fry is the hard part and just putting a ball cheato won't work. The fry needs to be separated and fed constantly

OK thanks for the response noodleman..I'm wondering if I should wait till lights out and use the flashlight to check, because I know the anemone will eventually close somewhat during the Moonlight hours of 11:00PM till 11:00AM(using blue lunars). Or will the anemone stay open now that the pair hosts in it? Funny... I really never noticed that one.
Yes I agree totally with you about the fry. I believe the eggs tend to hatch at night to aviod predation of others and the parents? Don't know if that's really true. Read that somewhere. How can an egg determine when it's light or dark. How would I go about the collection? Besides a fine net? Yes, fed constantly baby brine shrimp. Anything else besides that?
Thanks for your prompt response noodleman.

noel you shoulda asked me, i bought the clownfish book by joyce wilkerson, the "seizure" is the male letting the girl know he's ready, and them fighting others away from the area might be them getting ready to lay eggs. The parents will eat their eggs in the tank, you MUST separate them. then with the same tank water put the eggs in the small 12gallon tank that you have, and put some plastic tubing with an air pump so that you have water movement, about 8 day after they are laid they will hatch, this is where it gets hard. PM me for more detailS, I WANNA HELP, I WILL HELP, I WILL EVEN TRY TO DO IT FOR YOU (SINCE YOU ALWAYS WORKING), JUST NEED THE 12 GALLON AND YOUR TANK WATER

the fry will know when it's night time becuase they'll form eyes and the orange egg will become clear to the point you'll see the fry inside ;) the clownfish book by joyce wilkerson is a great book about raising fry
