I really do hate to be right on this one but I was thinking this wasn't a joke. Now we need to support this kid and convince him to get that damn trigger out of a little tank. Inneed, although that trigger fits now, and surely was in a smaller tank in your pet store, it is going to get way too big for that tank and fast; if it even lives that long. There will be people who are not very polite about this stuff with you because they care a lot about the animals. I know it is hard but you should really think about returning the trigger to the LFS and get some credit there. We will tell you what to do with the money. If you end up with a kick-ass reeftank in a years time this could end up being the funniest and best tank thread ever. Good luck, I hope you end up sticking with it and listening to the advice given heres.

For the record, I am sincere in trying to help this guy, I am not insulting him at all. I deal with students in a crappy area in BK daily. They are mostly good kids who don't have the requisite knowledge to do/say/express themselves in the ways that they want... people take this to assume they are just dumb, this is not the case at all. The fact remains that this guy is here trying to do things right. Yes, he should have gone about it a different way. It is easier to give up on him because he has acted very rashly but then his animals will just die and everyone will be pissed.

I think an attitude adjustment is in order, before helping him. Stubborn behavior will get you no where with the people of MR.

Rookie07 gave you some great advice ... I seriously suggest you take it.

If you do buy a bigger tank ... make sure you buy a stand that goes with it. Don't put a 6ft tank on a 4-5ft stand. That won't go over too well.

You need to get the absolute basics of setting up a saltwater tank down before you even think about keeping livestock. Keeping fish alive for a year or whatever is NOT success.

the basics and then some

dude, i read this thread from beginning to end and yes some ppl were harsh but you had it coming, at first i said ok he's rushing it, but as i went on it was rookie question, bad question, worst question and finally the MR SHARKS came after you. if the advice u got was actually from a LFS, dont EVER GO BACK. it sucks to hear this but read, read, read, and when ur done reading, read some more. keep the following steps in mind. PM me, i will personally come and help you, FREE OF CHARGE. I dont care how much money you have, dont just keep buying fish to replace dead ones.

1.you dont put fish in 20mins after set-up
2.you dont "test" water with a seahorse
3.you dont insult someone giving you advice
4. Rookie07,aznt,awibrandy are some of my favorite ppl for questions, listen to them , they have about 500+ gal in btwn em.
5. DON'T BUY A 120-150 Gal if you havent mastered the 38. AND if you are, have ppl help you.

Other than making fun of someone, I see zero reason to bump this thread. Yes this was a rough start for inneed but he turned around and ended up doing the right thing. I don't see him post much if at all anymore. We should probably lock this up.
