I bred African cichlids for many years. So I've stripped many fish. But I can say this is my first saltwater fish. Just to clarify, "stripped" is opening the mouth and taking the babies.This is the 2ND time I've noticed that the male was holding.So I decided to strip him before he spit the babies in the tank.The babies would have been lunch.I say "he" because the male is the one that holds the eggs in his mouth. Cardinals are mouth brooders.
