I bred African cichlids for many years. So I've stripped many fish. But I can say this is my first saltwater fish. Just to clarify, "stripped" is opening the mouth and taking the babies.This is the 2ND time I've noticed that the male was holding.So I decided to strip him before he spit the babies in the tank.The babies would have been lunch.I say "he" because the male is the one that holds the eggs in his mouth. Cardinals are mouth brooders.

make sure you fortify the babies foods with selcon or other HUFA's because when I didn't, they would just die for no reason one by one around 2nd-3rd month, eating vigorously and about 3/4" already.

If your ever down here I got a unlimited supply of live food for the babies.. Bob's pods.. $15 a bottle or i could make up a largerportion for you they live foe about a week in the bottle they come in..

Wow, feed the babies as much as possible, check your water peremiter frequent, it may spike as they grow larger, we need more people like you so we can leave the wildcaught fish where they belong, In the ocean.
