Clown fish bite me today

had my hand in the tank today getting the suction cup of my algae clip off the glass and my clown fish came from no where and bite me on my pinky lol... lil guy startled the hell out of me, i jerk my hand out of the water and got water all over me.. when i think of it now its hilarious

Yeah, I have a thug clownfish that bites me all the time. Whenever I am trimming xenia she goes after my fingers because she thinks I am going to ruin her bed.

So I'm curious how bad it hurts.
I have a Maroon Clown that will eat out of my hand.
Sometimes she bites on my fingers getting the food out. But it's always pretty gentle.
Wondering if she's being gentle or if that's as hard as they bite?

Past clowns I have owned have drawn blood after biting me. Nature if the beast, you're in their home and they are defending it.

Yeah i remember when my clown bite me i almost broke my light fixture lmao now im use to it its either the clown or my striped damsel..the clown even attacks the mag float when im cleaning the glass...

The first time it happened to me I was trying to just quickly do a water change but had some bubble algae and decided to remove it. When he went at me I ended up splashing a bunch of water that I had to clean up, so much for the quick change! Now if he starts acting aggressive I put a net in the tank and he just hides. I don't chase him or anything, just place it in the tank. But I wonder if he'll get over the net because it's the same one I use to feed rinsed mysis shrimp with.

Give him a light flick to the face the next time he bites that will keep them from biting in the future. Otherwise when the clown starts drawing blood everytime you put your hand in the water you are going to be quite pissed.

+1. I've found that my black and white clowns are much more aggressive with your hands than the other occi's or percs.

+2. A quick flick of your finger to it's nose will usually stop that behavior.

My clowns are sweet. They've never bitten me. But then again I trained them with the big orange hand of the guy who feeds them. I used to chase them around the tank with the orange gloves on! Now they stay away from me.

Just don't ask House of Laughter about my clowns!

It doesn't hurt, it just startles me when she bites me.

My black and whites would bite my hand whenever I put a new coral in. One time it startled me so much that I scraped my entire forearm on the rim of the tank and splashed water everywhere! lol

Funny stories lol... yeah it didnt really hurt it just startled the hell out of me because i didnt see it coming lol. When ever i do my water change, and im holding the siphion hose in the tank, it swims at me like its ready to attack. I just wiggle my fingers and it swims away but always comes back.
