I picked up a wrasse over the weekend as a Sri Lanka Christmas Wrasse but after looking around the web it turns out to be Halichoeres nebulosus. Apparently it also goes by Red Picture Wrasse and Clouded Wrasse.

I can kind-of see why it would be called a Christmas Wrasse but its not quiet the same as the others. Does anyone have any experience with this Wrasse?

Did you buy it because you thought the name was Sri Lanka Christmas Wrasse ?Or because you liked it and it was eating in the store?

I bought a wrasse from the LFS under the name Chinese Wrasse,i bought it because i liked the little fellow .It is also known as the New Guinea wrasse. So there you have it,you have to do your own research if you really care .Good luck.
That's a pic of him on the left.

I have this wrasse. Bought him thinking I would be getting a Christmas wrasse. Whatever, it is what it is. He seems to be okay so far. Eats A LOT.

Problem is if you are getting more wrasses they are going to duke it out for a few days to establish heirarchy so don't freak out too much.

It wasn't picked up at a lfs and I tried to do as much research on the fish as labeled by the distributor. I don't mind as long as its not gonna eat and kill everything in the tank and its a plus that is almost matches my algae blenny.

aznt: What are you feeding yours? I tried mysis last night but it seemed to just taste it and spit it out. It only came out of hiding yesterday after being put in the tank Saturday.

Thanks Azt1217
My daughter picked it out.
He eats very well, Pellets, flakes, mysis
I would still like to know what it is to confirm compatablity.
I am getting 2- dispar anthias and 2- flame anthias to add to the tank and I hope he doesn't bother them

Well I think I figured out why the wrasse doesn't want to eat. So far I am down two ornamental shrimp, three cerith snails and apparently the majority of at least three dozen stomatella snails. If this fish doesn't eat something else really soon I will have to figure out a way to get it out and rehome it.
