I just got a 4.5" adult Blueface from New World in Manhattan. It is in my 2 year old 90 gallon (I know may be a little small). He is in there with just 1 powder brown tang and 120lbs LR.

If anyone has experience with this fish what type of food did you feed it? I currently have some dried algae sheets on a feeding clip. I also have frozen mysis shrimp.

Also do you think adding 1 more fish is pushing it? if so which would be a good tankmate?

Thanks!

I feed mine Formula 2 pellets ... he is fat as a house (yes he is in a full reef) ... doesn't pick at any corals. At this point this is primarily what I feed all of my fish, occasionally I will throw in mysis or something else.

OK, thanks for all the advice on the feeding, any tips for other fish it goes good with? Seeing that my tank is 90 gallong with 30 gallon sump and I have a 4.5" blueface and a 4" powder brown tang, I was thinking a school of small anthias or chromis.

I recommend to feed with Angel & Butterfly Diet and Mysis starting out and once your BF angel eats then you can start with pellets such as NLS.

As for tank mates how about a pair of Flameangels and a Lemonpeel angel?

I agree with everyone on the nutrition issue but i have never seen natural sea sponge at any LFS. You can feed him cut up baby squid and silver sides form the fish market much cheaper there just freeze before use.MO on tankmates is that they don't like a lot of company.

Well the bluface hasn't com out much, but he has only been in the tank for about 30 hrs. tomorrow I will try getting him out of the rocks with some mysis. I put some formula 2 pellets I have and he seemed interested and came out briefly. I want to add the last tankmate before the BF gets acclimated and gets territorial.

And if his new tankmates are greedy they will eat up most of the food before your blueface angel can get a good feed so try and give him a belly full before you add the new mates.Angel Formula is another good frozen fishfood for angels at about $6-7 a pop.Good luck.

Powder Brown Tang is doing his best to scare the Blueface by pushing his tail in his face when he comes out of the rock work. I think the BF is coming around tho, I saw him eat a little algae from a lettuce clip this morning. He runs and hides if someone walks by the tank. Gonna try mysis shrimp tonight

Blueface is ignoring the aggressive powder brown tang and come sout to eat algae sheets form the clip. He ate some mysis shrimp this morning too. Still flys behind the rockwork whenever he sees me near the tank tho. I really want to add another fish before these 2 get too established. I was thinking a dwarf angel like a lemonpeel or clowns or school of chromis

did a little look around the internet and found San Francisco Bay and Hikari make frozen angelfish food with natural sponge. Anybody try either or both of these with comments?

I am trying to get pictures but the fish don't stay still and my camera is a POS. The Blueface comes out and eats like a big now. I have him on formula 1 pellets, thera+ pellets, mysis, seaweed, and bought some frozen angel food which contains sponge.

My tank is fully stocked (if not over-stocked) with a 5" blueface, 2" hippo tang I added 5 days ago and a 7" Lunare Wrasse I boguht today from Manhattan Aquariums(great looking fisha nd eating already).

How should I feed the frozen cubes of angel food? It is jello-like but I can't hold with a seaweed clip

Try feeding him small pieces at night with a pair of tweezers he will eventually get use to being feed this way .I should add this is not the only way but considering that now you have a wrasse this way might give him a chance to eat without much competition.

Since he is eating already, your Blueface should be fine. No need to be stressed out about it. :) They are not that differcult to acclimate and feed, comparing to some other angels. Once they are adjust to your tank, they can be quite bold. And he might nip on your corals.

You can rubberband the gel food on a piece of LR.

both the Blueface AND the Powder Brown need a tank larger than 90 gallons. You will not have long term success with either fish in that tank.
