I have a Melanarus (Hoeven's) as well as a Leopard Wrasse.

I'd like to add a third one but I am a little concerned that the Melanarus may get agressive. When I added the Leopard he harassed it for a couple of weeks but now they all get along.

Does anyone know if there will be an issue with these two fish in the same tank?

Thanks!

Most importantly... what size tank and how much live rock do you have in there.I currently have a melanurus and a hortulanus in a 110 gal and i'm think about adding another wrasse as well. The new wrasse will need room to escape and somewhere to hide untill he can stand up for himself or herself.

a mystery will hold its own as long as there's some hiding places in the beginning. mine hid between the rocks for a couple of days lurking around for any food that came near the bottom. once it settled in, it became more of a bully among the wrasses. it can get real mean(and scary looking) as it gets older. i think the mystery will kick the mel's butt....l worry more about the leopard though.

depending what size tank you got...it may not be the best idea.

It's a 120.

I have:
Melanarus
Leopard Wrasse
Yellow Tang
Spotted Kole Tang
2 Ocellaris clowns
3 sqami anthias
1 clown goby
1 sand sifting goby
2 other small fish that I don't know the names of

I think right now the tank is well stocked so I'm not going to add anything, but if anything dies I was wondering about the possibility of getting the mystery wrasse. I think I will wait until at least one of the wrasses dies, hopefully not for some time.

Thanks.

i have kept a mel., a leopard and a mystery but never in the tank at the same time. i feel that the leopard is much more delicate. the mystery being the tougher one and the mel some where in between. my mystery harassed the crap out of the lineatus which i believe contribute to its demise.
btw i have 6 wrasses(plus many other fish) in a 200 at this moment.

I have a Hoeven's and a Leopard together with a Peppermint Hog a Solar and RosyScales Wrasse. All get a long for the most part. The Leopoard came to me from an MR member that had a huge Mystery Wrasse. Again they got along.
Keep em well fed and you should be ok.
