Well. This morning I walked over to my tank and my foot touched something relatively squishy so I lifted my foot. In my head, I thought I dropped a silverside or something. I looked closer and found out my 9 month Jawfish had jumped.

Granted, I am VERY saddened but I am truly amazed as to how he jumped over a 4 inch high Rubber Guard and 5 Feet away from the tank. I have no idea why he jumped because I feel nothing really startled him. The only thing I did was add a Hawaiian Flame Angel last night.

Time to go buy a Versa Top

I didn't see any salt or any other type of water marks near the body that was a trail. It' shiny hardwood not carpet. Not sure if he flopped around =(

I know they are jumpers but that rubber guard is pretty high off and the way my tank is set up it would hit the light instead of jumping right out.

This gives me a reason to buy a Bluespot lol.

Did you try to revive him? You'll be surprised how long they can be out of water. When my regal landed dry on the bioballs compartment of my sump for god knows how long, I thought for sure he was a goner. I almost dumped it in the toilet. That was almost 5 years ago. And yes, he is still alive and happier than ever. I had revived a true percular clown also when my maroon clown chased her out and I found her on the floor after a 6 foot fall. Again I didn't know how long she was down when I got to her.

I don't think fish can survive being stepped on.

:( We've had floor surfers. It makes me feel like a POS when a fish jumps, but I'm overly sensitive when it comes to my aquatic pets and feel like a failure when they die. One of my favorite wrasses jumped about four months ago. It took a day or so for me to even find her because she was so far away from the tank. Dry is an understatement.

I left her on the floor until Craig got home so he could dispose of her. I couldn't bring myself to scrape her up... :(
