What is the fastest fish you have seen in an aquarium.

For me it is the Sohal tang, it can whip around the glass box faster than anything else I have seen.

There are some very fast wrasses out there. Not sure which is the fastest, but the Labouti wrasse I had was the fastest fish I've owned. Even faster than the Sohal I have.

All fish can sprint fast when chased, especially the damsels. And even the clowns and mandarins. But tangs imo can be consistent fast (and strong) swimmers. Why else do we advocate large tanks for them? A damsels might spring a few feet faster than many fish but tangs can keep swimming long distance pretty fast.

Whatever fish I am trying to catch, always seems to be the fastest.

Unfortunately, the fastest fish are the ones you will never see be able to get up to speed in 95% of tanks as they are too small. Lookdowns would probably be one of the faster swimmers, everything about them screams speed, except that sad look. I think the top speed fish would be some of the larger ones with the long slender fins or streamers to reduce drag. The smaller fish have acceleration and burst speed since in the wild that is what is going to keep them out of other fishes mouths. I've seen some gobies be able to change direction lightning fast. But Greg is probably the most right of all lol, whatever you tried to catch last if probably the fastest.

Reminds me of Superbad lol. Seth Rogen gasping "He's a fresk of nature....he's the fastest kid alive."
